Enterprise Bargaining—information for exsisting employees

Following the conclusion of negotiations in late 2025, the Department of Education is pleased to advise that proposed replacement agreements have been drafted with relevant unions ready to be put to affected employees for their consideration.

The consultation period

The formal consultation periods for 3 replacement agreements (which involve: teacher aides; cleaners; and administrative, professional, technical and operational officers; health practitioners; community education counsellors’ employees) will be conducted concurrently.

The consultation period opens Tuesday 10 February until Wednesday 25 February 2026. Consultation provides employees with an opportunity to be become familiar with the new content and changes set out in the relevant proposed agreement. It also enables employees to make an informed decision when they cast their vote to either accept, or not accept, the contents of the proposed agreement.

A copy of the proposed agreement as well as explanatory material is available via links below. Live online information sessions will be held during the consultation period (departmental staff can use the search feature on OnePortal to access the online session schedule).

The ballot

Balloting all employees is a requirement of the Industrial Relations Act 2016. Where an agreement ballot results in a majority ‘yes’ vote, the department will apply to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission for certification of the new agreement and then the wage increase (based on the effective date of the relevant agreement) can be paid.

Ballot opens: Thursday 26 February 2026 at 8am (AEST Qld time).
Ballot closes: Thursday 12 March 2026 at 5pm (AEST Qld time).

Employees should check their work email for information from CorpVote about the ballot and how to vote. Employees on leave for the duration of the ballot period will receive information via post from CorpVote on how to vote.
