Social worker—Student Wellbeing

​​​​​​​​​​​​As a social worker in a school or region, you will respond to the needs of the student population and school community in an advisory and advocacy capacity. This will include personal and family counselling, therapy and group work, facilitation of referrals to other allied health professionals, and service and care coordination for the purpose of assisting students'​ wellbeing and mental health.​​

About the role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • use evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing
  • provide therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns
  • facilitate referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support.

Working with us

As a social worker employed with the Department of Education, you will have access to a range of benefits including:

  • 12.75% in employer contributions and the employee contribution rate will default to 5%

Mandatory requirements

A mandatory requirement of this role is possession of a tertiary qualification in social work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
