Registered nurses

​​Registered nurses employed by the department are based in schools and work with staff and students to provide training, nursing services and advice about student health requirements.

Employment conditions

Nurses are employed under public sector awards and certified agreements ( departmental employees only)​.

Your professional registration assures your suitability to work with children. However, if you become involved in out-of-school activities that differ from the duties expected of your position as a clinical nurse, you may require a Blue Card.

Clinical Nurse Consultants are available in all regions to provide departmental nurses with clinical supervision and support.

Your professional induction will include information on:

  • management of referrals and consent for service
  • prioritisation process
  • Clinical Nurses Practice Model
  • access to nursing documentation and training resources
  • provision of nursing services in an educational context.
