The Employee performance, professional development and recognition policy (PDF, 105KB) promotes a constructive and supportive workplace culture where employees and supervisors have regular and meaningful (informal and formal) performance exchanges about standards of conduct, performance expectations and opportunities for developing capability.

Senior officers are encouraged to take ownership of their performance and career aspirations, understand how their work aligns to departmental objectives and act on opportunities for professional growth.

Performance planning and development is informed by reflection against the relevant capability frameworks or professional standards. Capability frameworks and professional standards detail expectations for all employees.
