The Regional School Industry Partnership (RSIP) program connects schools with industry partners to create real-world opportunities for students and prepare them for their future. The program aims to increase industry engagement and support positive transitions to meaningful post-school pathways. The program is defined by strong sustainable school–industry partnerships that meet the needs of both school and industry.
Preparing young Queenslanders for a changing world
The RSIP program contributes to Queensland's economy by fostering collaboration between schools and industries to build a skilled and future-ready workforce. Strong partnerships between schools and industry can prepare students to become active citizens in a rapidly changing world. Our program’s goal is to support the developmental needs of students, while preparing them for current and emerging careers in evolving labour markets. By collaborating with industry, community and tertiary partners, schools can understand how rapid social, technological and economic changes influence the nature and structure of work and support students to make confident, informed choices about their future pathways.
How the program operates
The RSIP program is centrally led and coordinated by the RSIP manager (State) and regionally implemented and managed by an RSIP manager in each region.
For schools, working in collaboration with the RSIP program can help to:
- strengthen a whole-school culture that values industry partnerships and supports career development
- strengthen local industry partnerships to support meaningful links between the curriculum and the world of work
- support student engagement with learning and increase opportunities for successful post-school transitions
- support students to develop work-ready skills and dispositions to succeed in current and emerging industries while at school to prepare for future employment.
For industry, working in collaboration with the RSIP program can help to:
- attract, recruit, train, grow and better understand their future workforce
- expand opportunities to young people through schools across the state aligned to industry need
- connect to a statewide education network with local knowledge and established relationships with schools
- co-design relevant programs to address critical workforce shortages at scale.
The RSIP team specialises in brokering school and student opportunities with large industry peak bodies that represent multiple employers and the collective interests of a whole industry or profession.
