Since 2025, Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council representatives and key school community members have collaborated with the Queensland Government to co-design a master plan and identify key projects for the Western Cape College—Mapoon campus. The key projects have been prioritised into stage 1, 2 and 3 educational improvements, new buildings and spaces for the school.
What may change at the Western Cape College—Mapoon campus?
The outcomes we hope to achieve are:
- a master plan for Western Cape College—Mapoon campus
- a list of proposed projects categorised into stage 1, 2 and 3 potential projects.
Note: All proposed projects are unfunded.

Community engagement
Parents, carers and the local communities were invited to have their say on the draft master plan from Monday 20 July 2026 until Friday 21 August 2026.
Community engagement activities included:

- Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council social media posts
- face-to-face engagement sessions held on Tuesday 4 August 2026 at the Mapoon Campus and Mapoon IBIS store.
All feedback received through community engagement is being considered by the project team.
