The Queensland Government is planning a long-term solution to cater for future student numbers in the Goodna area. With enrolments at Goodna Special School increasing by more than 80% since 2020, the government is working to ensure the school has the necessary facilities to support its growing community.
As part of this plan, the government delivered 2 new temporary, 2-storey prefabricated classroom buildings and other facilities ready for teaching and learning in Term 1 2025.
The government is seeking feedback on the proposed developments for Stage 2, which aim to provide Goodna Special School with new and/or upgraded facilities to meet curriculum and extra-curricular needs.
Stage 1 in progress—ready for Term 1 2026
Construction for Stage 1 has commenced and is expected to be completed within 3 months, weather permitting, ready for Term 1 2026.
Stage 1 includes:
- removal of 2 existing single-storey temporary buildings (6 classrooms) and an amenities building
- replaced with a temporary 2-storey prefabricated building (12 classrooms and amenities).
Proposed Stage 2 (unfunded)*
The proposed developments will include:
- new play space including a partially covered playground with access ramp and lift
- car park for staff and school community
- amenities.
*Note: The delivery of Stage 2 is subject to the availability of funding in the future.
