The Department of Education is planning to deliver a new $14 million multi-purpose hall for Freshwater State School.

After careful consideration of a range of factors, the department will not proceed with the project as originally planned.

The department remains committed to providing this new facility for the school and, in consultation with the school community, will revisit location and design options.

This approach is consistent with the outcomes from a recent survey of the school community which showed that 64.1% of respondents were in favour of recommencing the location options analysis and design process.

The engagement with the survey demonstrates the school community’s commitment to the betterment of Freshwater State School, with a 58.1% response rate.

The school community’s continued engagement and feedback will be crucial as we move forward and in early in Term 4, 2024, the department will be seeking volunteers to be members of a reference group. The group will work closely with our infrastructure team and keep families and staff informed through regular updates.

While revisiting location and design options will delay construction of the new hall for at least 12 months, the original budget allocated for the project has been secured.

Members of the school community are encouraged to look out for further details in the school newsletter at the start of Term 4 on how they can participate and stay updated.
