The Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey collects data from Queensland state schools in a consistent and systematic way to gain a better understanding of the wellbeing and engagement of students.
It measures many aspects of students' wellbeing, engagement and experience at school.
Data from the survey will help schools to monitor their school culture and student wellbeing in line with the
Student Learning and Wellbeing Framework (PDF, 535KB) and
Brighter futures: Delivering excellence in every state school, for every student.
The results from the survey will help the department and schools determine how best to support students.
From 2026, the QEW Survey is changing to align to best practice for inclusion with simplified language, a consistent yes/sometimes/no response scale and a reduced number of questions. Students in primary and secondary year levels will receive a 44-item survey. Students in specials schools will be able to complete either the short 13-item survey or the 44-item survey. Students in primary school and special schools will also see an image prompt with each survey item.
