The Queensland Government's Fee Unit Model was introduced on 1 July 2022, as a mechanism to update fees and charges captured by the government's indexation policy annually. Under the Fee Unit Model, fees are displayed in legislation as a number of ‘fee units’, rather than a dollar amount.

The below tables provide the dollar amount for the fees that are part of the Fee Unit Model in the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2017 and Education (Overseas Students) Regulation 2018.

Fees not in scope of Fee Unit Model
Fees prescribed under education legislation, that are not in scope of the Fee Unit Model are displayed as a dollar amount in schedule 1 of the Education and Care Services Regulation 2013.
From 29 June 2026, amendments in the Education and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2026 (PDF, 802KB) removed the prescription of criminal history check fees as dollar values from the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2017 and the Education (Queensland College of Teachers) Regulation 2016.
