The Queensland Government has introduced the Fee Unit Model, a new mechanism for how particular fees and charges are updated annually to reflect indexation. Under the Fee Unit Model, fees are displayed in legislation as a number of ‘fee units’, rather than a dollar amount.

The below tables provide the dollar amount for the fees that are part of the Fee Unit Model in the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2017 and Education (Overseas Students) Regulation 2018.

* These fees usually increase on 1 January each year. However, in line with the Government’s indexation policy for 2024-25, these fees will not increase on 1 January 2025. The 2025 fees will remain the same value as the 2024 fees.

Fees not in scope of Fee Unit Model
Fees prescribed under education legislation which are not in scope of the Fee Unit Model are displayed as a dollar amount in the legislation. This includes:
- the fee for a criminal history check under the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2017 (Schedule 5) and Education (Queensland College of Teachers) Regulation 2016 (Schedule 1)
- fees prescribed in the
Education and Care Services Regulation 2013.
