P-12 curriculum

P-12 curriculum

The P-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework specifies the requirements for each Queensland state school to deliver the curriculum from Prep to Year 12. The framework is a key reference for all state school principals, staff and school communities.

A series of accompanying documents inform schools' delivery of a quality curriculum. These documents are available on the Curriculum website.

The Australian Curriculum

The Australian Curriculum is being developed progressively and will gradually replace the Queensland curriculum. Once complete, it will set out what all Australian students (P-12) are to be taught, and the expected quality of learning as they progress through schooling. The Australian Curriculum includes seven General capabilities (GCs):

These capabilities play a significant role in realising the goals set out in the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (PDF, 954 KB) (MYCEETYA 2008), including supporting students' development of knowledge, skills and understandings as twenty-first century learners.
