Developing performance

​​​The Valuing Performance Policy Statement (PDF, 776KB) is the department's vision for a workplace culture in which every employee understands how their work contributes to departmental achievements, takes ownership of their own performance, feels valued, and is provided with opportunities and resources to grow as a professional and as a leader in their various fields.

The Developing Performance Framework provides you, your colleagues and your team leader with a process, capability documents and online tools to clarify work priorities, discuss career aspirations and plan support and professional development to continue to build your capabilities.

Your Developing Performance​ conversations​ will give you valuable insight into the capabilities you have and those you may need to develop further.

Developing Performance conversations follow a four-phase Developing Performance process.

Implementation Guide for Public Servants

The Implementation Guide for Public Servants provides useful information to help public servants (other than public servants in schools) implement the four phases of the Developing Performance Framework. It also contains hints and tips for working through the process, and ideas and resources to help you along the way.

Preparation

You can prepare for your Developing Performance conversations by referring to the Capability and Leadership Framework and completing a self-assessment proforma. The framework details expectations for employees in various roles at different levels. Not all components of every capability will necessarily be required for your role, but the framework provides a useful vocabulary and a general context for your Developing Performance conversations.​
