Inner City South State Secondary College Page ContentThe new Inner City South State Secondary College (ICSSSC) will service the growing communities in and around Brisbane's inner south and provide additional enrolment capacity in the network of inner Brisbane secondary schools.The school will welcome its first intake of Foundation Year 7 students at the start of Term 1, 2021 and will deliver an innovative curriculum in collaboration with the University of Queensland (UQ).Located in Dutton Park, the new school will sit within the Brisbane Knowledge Corridor and be an integral part of the leading education, health, research and hospital precinct.Ms Kirsten Ferdinands has been appointed as Foundation Principal of the new state secondary college.Project updateBroad Construction was appointed as the building contractor in October 2019 to construct the new school.Works commenced in November 2019.Site clearing and bulk earthworks were completed on site in early 2020.The second tower crane was installed on site in April 2020, and the installation of pilings and footings is well underway.The third level of concrete for the administration building was poured in April 2020, the construction of the vertical structure has commenced and the concrete for the lift base has been poured.Slab preparations are underway for the learning hub building with the first level of concrete expected to be poured in June 2020. Download all project images (ZIP file, 53.2MB) Traffic and constructionTraffic and pedestrian movement around the site is managed in accordance with a traffic management plan approved by the Brisbane City Council to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.As part of the school’s construction, there are a number of changes that need to be made to the surrounding road network. Road works are underway on Gladstone Road to construct a new signalised intersection at TJ Doyle Memorial Drive. These works have required temporary changes to cycle and pedestrian access along this section of Gladstone Road and people must adhere to the temporary signage and directions of traffic controllers. Bus stop 16 on Gladstone Road (outbound) is currently unavailable during construction and will reopen during 2021. For more information on bus services, please visit Translink. The majority of these road works are required to be undertaken at night to reduce the impact on traffic, in accordance with Brisbane City Council approvals. Motorists should expect minor delays while these works are carried out.
