Schools are invited to
nominate up to 10 Aboriginal students and Torres Strait Island students in Years 5 and 6, to participate.
Following the regional sitting of the Queensland Parliament, the
Junior Indigenous Youth Parliament (PDF, 6.9MB) will be held in Cairns on Friday 12 May 2023 at the Cairns Convention Centre.
The Junior Indigenous Youth Parliament is hosted by the Queensland Parliament and will be chaired by the Speaker, the Honourable Curtis Pitt MP, along with local Members of Parliament.
This is an exciting opportunity for students in Cairns and the surrounding regions to debate a motion on a youth issue, speak about an inspirational Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Island person or speak in an adjournment debate about any issue falling within the jurisdiction of the Queensland Parliament.
