The One Mile State School community has proven resilience after rebuilding from devastating fires.

After a major fire broke out in Block C at One Mile State School, recovery crews worked day and night to re-establish learning facilities to support the school.

This included demolishing the remains of Block C and installing a new prefabricated building with 2 general learning areas. The existing Block L was also refurbished to provide an additional 2 classrooms.

The 4 replacement classrooms re-opened in time for students’ return to school, thanks to the assistance and hard work of the entire school community, the Department of Education, QBuild and Fleetwood.

This year, the final stage of rebuilding and recovery has reached completion – a new administration block.

The new building plays an important role in welcoming the community, with new visitor and student waiting areas as well as a new principal's office, deputy principal's office, business manager office, interview and meeting rooms.

Other facilities lost in the fire such as storerooms, a sick room, resource room, kitchenette and amenities have also been replaced.

This project was delivered through the Rectification and Reinstatement program.

A further project was undertaken to refurbish the previous administration building to provide 2 new classrooms and support services spaces. This project was funded under the School Infrastructure Enhancement program.
