The Queensland Government has delivered an outstanding $21.1 million (GST inclusive) 3-storey learning centre and a $12 million (GST inclusive) multi-purpose hall at Ferny Grove State High School.
The new multi-purpose hall was completed in January this year, ready for the start of the 2021 school year.
The hall has 2 multi-purpose courts, a performance stage, box office and foyer, along with a range of support spaces and offices.
The project included a refurbishment and extension of the school’s administration building.
A new 3-storey learning centre was also completed in early 2020 through the $250 million
2020 Ready program, which focuses on delivering school infrastructure to support the additional student population in state secondary schools following the introduction of Prep in 2007.
The new building features 22 general learning areas, 3 flexible learning areas, a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) specialist studio, 4 science labs, 5 collaborative spaces, staff rooms, offices and amenities.
The centre’s modern resources and equipment have provided students the chance to discover a passion for STEM and give them the skills they need for the jobs of the future.
Ferny Grove State High School Principal, John Schuh, said the entire school community welcomed the new facilities.
'As a community, we have embraced this wonderful new learning centre at our school that is providing our students with access to world-class facilities,' Mr Schuh said.
'And I know the students are really looking forward to the development of the new sports and performing arts centre.'
These new facilities make up a total investment of $33.1 million (GST inclusive) at Ferny Grove State High School.
