National Quality Framework

​​​​​The National Quality Framework (NQF) applies to most kindergarten, long day care, outside school hours care, kindergarten​​ and family day care services. Read the definitions of early childhood services to see if the NQF applies to you.

The NQF aims to improve:

  • quality and drives continuous improvement and consistency in Australian education and care services
  • educational and developmental outcomes for children.

National consistency

The Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) is the national body that monitors consistency with the National Quality Framework (NQF).

Regulatory authorities

Each state and territory is a regulatory authority and has monitoring and compliance and quality assessment roles under the NQF.
