Chris Evers

As Acting Deputy Director-General for First Nations Strategy and Partnerships, Chris is responsible for improving education outcomes for Aboriginal students and Torres Strait Islander students by partnering with Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people and communities to provide leadership, high-level advice and direction on effective and appropriate policies, services and programs, for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific and mainstream program areas.

Chris is a First Nations educational leader who has held numerous positions within the department across a wide variety of contexts. He has extensive expertise working, leading and influencing First Nations education across Queensland state schools, in remote, rural and urban contexts.

Chris is committed to leading our department to achieve improved educational outcomes for First Nations students through shared decision-making, the empowerment of individuals and communities and developing and maintaining respectful relationships with First Nations students, families and communities. ​
