Sharon Schimming

As Deputy Director-General of Early Childhood Education Improvement, Sharon is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the development and implementation of policy, funding and regulatory frameworks that shape the vibrant early childhood education and ca​re sector in Queensland. Sharon also oversees the Education Improvement Branch which supports continuous improvement, accountability and system-wide collaboration across Queensland’s early learning settings, state schools and education centres.

​​​​​​​​​​Sharon has been a leader in the public sector for a number of years in both school and corporate settings, supporting a culture of public value, continuous improvement, accountability, collaborative partnerships and customer focused solutions.​

Working in the complex education and community services environment Sharon collaborates with a diverse range of internal and external partners to co-design government responses and initiatives, capitalising on diversity and harnessing different viewpoints.

With a focus on giving all children a great start and the delivery of quality education in today’s economic climate, Sharon delivers initiatives that not only increase participation in early childhood education and provide for continual improvement of Queensland’s state schools but also support organisational sustainability, operational efficiency and flexible resource management.​
