Which is why every day, Queensland teachers are creating engaging opportunities for their students.State Education Week is a celebration of Queensland state education—a time for our schools to showcase to the community the exciting learning happening throughout the year.For Bracken Ridge State High School it is a celebration of creativity and partnerships. During Education Week they will present Arts: Reimagined, a festival involving community connection and the Arts.Live music, visual art galleries and dynamic drama performances will transform Bracken Ridge from a local high school into a colourful, vibrant, festival of creative expression.Bracken Ridge High is known for having a strong Arts culture explains Principal Ross Bailey.'Participation and the celebration of student excellence are proudly in the DNA of our school. It’s fabulous to be able to share the depth and breadth of our student talent in the Arts with our community at events such as Arts: Reimagined.''We have a number of partnerships with creative groups within the community that extend our students and provide rich experiences,' he said.Following a series of workshops in collaboration with the Museum of Brisbane, students will host Wearable Art: An exploration of recycled textiles, ethical manufacturing, slow fashion and clothing construction techniques.Other partners in learning include exciting special guests Brisbane-based physical theatre company, Zen Zen Zo, and community partner, Jabiru Community College. Students from the College will provide games, alongside family-friendly activities run by the school’s Early Childhood students. On stage, at front of house and behind the scenes, the students play a central and hands-on role within the creative process, involved in audio, light and stage management, event management and performance.State schools across Queensland have organised exciting events to share with their local community members—demonstrating the creativity, innovation and learning our schools deliver. Queensland State Education Week runs from Sunday 20 to Saturday 26 October, and 'creating opportunities' is the central theme.
